Two men charged over viable device, firearms and €45,000 drugs seizure in Carlow

Two men, both in their 40s, were arrested on 16 and 17 October 2025 after Gardaí searched properties in Carlow Town and Kernanstown and seized a viable improvised explosive device, four firearms, ammunition, and suspected drugs with a combined street value of €45,000. The Defence Forces EOD team removed the device for a controlled explosion, and all firearms and drugs were sent for further forensic analysis. Both men were charged and detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939 at a station in the Garda Eastern Region.
