Two men charged over €70,000 drug seizure in Cork city

On 31 March 2023, Gardaí attached to the Divisional Drugs Unit stopped a vehicle on Redemption Road in Cork city shortly before 6:30pm as part of Operation Tara. A search of the vehicle found approximately €63,000 of suspected heroin and €8,000 of suspected crack cocaine, valued at over €70,000. Two men, aged in their 20s and 30s, were arrested and detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 at a Garda station in Cork. Both men have since been charged and are due before a special sitting of Cork District Court on 2 April 2023 at 10:15am.
