Tipperary man pleads guilty to money mule offence at Killaloe court
Marcus Ryan, 23, of Ballina, Co Tipperary, pleaded guilty at Killaloe District Court sitting in Ennis on 5 March 2024 to possessing €10,000 that were the proceeds of criminal conduct, a money mule offence. The offence occurred on 23 February 2022 at AIB bank, Royal Parade, Killaloe, when Ryan provided his bank card and PIN to an unknown male who transferred money into his account, which was subsequently withdrawn in denominations in Dublin. Ryan also turned over an estimated €500,000 in bets on his smartphone, at one stage being up €20,000 and then down €20,000. Judge Alec Gabbett indicated he would not impose a conviction on Ryan, who has no previous convictions, and adjourned the case to March 2025 for continued monitoring.
