Teens charged with endangerment of life over Ballyfermot patrol car ramming
On the evening of 19 September 2022, a Garda patrol car carrying two female officers was rammed three times by two stolen Toyota Aquas in Ballyfermot, Dublin, while responding to a joyrider report. Five arrests were made and three teenage boys, aged 16, 15 and 15, were charged with offences including dangerous driving, criminal damage and unlawful use of stolen cars, while two other boys were diverted to the Garda juvenile youth programme. In April 2023 the charges were upgraded to endangerment of life, the DPP recommended the two main defendants face trial in the Circuit Court, and a preliminary hearing was set for July to decide the trial venue.
