Teenager found guilty of manslaughter over death of Matt O’Neill in Carrigaline, Co Cork
On 28 December 2022 Matt O'Neill, 29, was assaulted at Glenwood Estate in Carrigaline, Co Cork, and died in hospital on 8 January 2023. Jordan Deasy, 19, was arrested at a flat in Crosshaven on New Year's Eve 2022 and charged with murder, and co-accused Ricardo Hoey, 21, is also charged with murder. In April 2024 the jury at the Central Criminal Court in Cork acquitted Deasy of murder but found him guilty of manslaughter, and it failed to reach a verdict on Hoey's murder charge. The judge sent the jury home to resume deliberations on Hoey's charge on Monday, which is the latest reported development.
