Teenager convicted of murdering Urantsetseg Tserendorj appeals conviction
A teenager who was 14 at the time stabbed Urantsetseg Tserendorj, a woman, on a walkway between George's Dock and Custom House Quay at the IFSC in Dublin on January 20th, 2021, after she said she had no money to give him. Ms Tserendorj was declared dead on January 29th, 2021, the same day the teenager pleaded guilty to manslaughter after denying murder. The first trial ended with a jury disagreement, and a jury later convicted him of murder after two trials, and in February he was sentenced to life imprisonment, subject to review after 13 years. He has now appealed, arguing the trial judge wrongly admitted evidence of another attempted robbery, and the Court of Appeal has reserved judgment.
