Teenager (14) assaulted in Kildare town playground

A 14-year-old boy was allegedly set upon by three other youths near the swings in a playground on Bride Street, Kildare town, on Friday 8 May 2026 shortly after 6:30pm. The boy suffered injuries including a dislocated elbow, was taken to Midland Regional Hospital in Portlaoise, and was later transferred to Temple Street Hospital in Dublin, where he had surgery on his elbow. Gardaí were alerted, and the first report of the incident was published by Kildare Now on 10 May 2026. Gardaí said investigations are ongoing, and no arrests or charges have been reported.
