Teen sentenced to two years for false imprisonment in Dublin
A 15-year-old boy, who was on bail at the time, met a 19-year-old man on a bus in Clonsilla, Dublin in May 2023 and over the following weeks followed him, broke his glasses, and added him on Snapchat before on 15 June 2023 bringing him to an apartment where he produced two knives, told the man he would kill and slice him, made him remove his clothing, and took his driving licence. The teenager brought the man home, disposing of one knife en route, and the man and his mother reported the incident to gardaí. The 17-year-old, who had 10 previous convictions, pleaded guilty to false imprisonment with other counts taken into consideration. On 31 July 2025, Judge Martina Baxter at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court sentenced him to two years' detention.
