On 26 August 2026 at approximately 19:30, a taxi driver was attacked and their vehicle was stolen while taking a break on Blessington Street, Dublin city. The stolen vehicle was chased by at least four garda vehicles and a male was arrested in connection with the incident. The following day, as part of Operation Tara, a vehicle was stopped on the N7 and a large quantity of cocaine with an estimated value of €100,000 was found concealed in it. The driver, a male in his 40s, was arrested and detained at Tallaght Garda Station under drug trafficking legislation, and follow-up searches at a residential address in the Old Bawn area of Tallaght recovered further drugs and cash, bringing the total estimated street value of seized drugs to in excess of €190,000. Investigations are ongoing.
