Suspended sentence for man who possessed knife in Dundalk
Gardaí on mobile patrol on Park Street, Dundalk, around 9.25pm on February 18th, spotted Oisín Quinn McDonagh (22) of Castleross, Castletown Road, Dundalk, attempting to evade them, and found a knife with a 6-inch blade concealed in his jacket. A separate charge relating to an alleged incident at The Square, Blackrock, on January 25th, of allowing himself to be carried in a vehicle taken without the owner's consent, was put back to Dundalk District Court. Judge Ciaran Liddy imposed a six-month sentence for possessing the knife and suspended it for two years on the defendant's own €200 bond to be of good behaviour. The sentence was reported on 12 September 2023, and the defence barrister said he had no previous convictions.
