Supreme Court remits teen murder case for new sentence in Dublin
A 14-year-old boy stabbed 48 or 49-year-old Mongolian woman Urantsetseg Tserendorj in the neck on a walkway at the IFSC, Dublin, on 20 January 2021 after attempting to rob her as she walked home from work. She died nine days later from lack of oxygen to the brain. He was found guilty of murder by a jury on 11 November 2022 after two trials and sentenced to life detention with a review after 13 years in February 2023. The Court of Appeal rejected his appeals against conviction and sentence in late 2023. In March 2025 the Supreme Court ruled the sentence review mechanism unconstitutional and remitted the case for a new sentence.
