Case No. 1019Fatal explosion (multiple fatalities) · Co. Donegal · 7 Oct 2022

Supplementary file sent to DPP over fatal Creeslough explosion, Donegal

On 7 October 2022 an explosion at the Applegreen service station and apartment complex in Creeslough, Co Donegal, killed ten people aged between five and 59, including three children. Gardaí said a suspected gas leak may have caused the blast, and the investigation has focused on how the gas system at the complex was run and maintained. Between March 2024 and September 2025 at least six people were arrested for alleged offences under the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act 1997, and all were released without charge. A primary file went to the DPP in September 2025, and in April 2026 gardaí submitted a supplementary file with formal recommendations, and no one has been charged.
