Romanian man jailed for three years six months over sexual assault of man in lift, Dublin

On 22 July 2020 a man was sexually assaulted in a lift in Dublin. The suspect, Cezar Toader, a 41-year-old Romanian man, followed the victim to his apartment about 200m from a pizza shop. Toader pleaded guilty at the Circuit Criminal Court to one count of sexual assault and one count of burglary. He was sentenced to an effective three years and six months, backdated to 30 October 2025, and the sentence was reported on 17 February 2026.
