Revenue seizes about €800,000 of cannabis at Shannon Airport

Revenue officers seized approximately 40kg of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of €800,000 at Shannon Airport, County Clare, on Friday morning, 21 March 2025. The drugs were vacuum sealed packages unloaded from a flight that had originated in Toronto, Canada, and were found through risk profiling and with the help of detector dog Brody. The flight was one of six early-morning flights diverted to Shannon after a fire in London closed Heathrow. No arrests, suspects or charges have been reported, and Revenue says investigations are ongoing as part of its operations targeting organised crime groups.
