Case No. 7305Racial abuse · Co. Dublin

Nigerian business owner seeks restraining orders over alleged racist abuse

Stanley Abayeneme, a Nigerian national who runs a car-valeting business at Greenhills Bungalows, Blessington Road, Tallaght, Co Dublin, alleges that neighbouring Lithuanian businessman Vilmantas Zutkis subjected him and his worker John Onuigbo Obinna to racial abuse, including calling them 'monkeys'. Abayeneme also seeks a restraining order against landlord John McLaughlin, of Laurel Walk, Bandon, Co Cork, over an alleged blocking of his unit by a steel container. He had made several complaints to gardaí at Tallaght and to the landlord, which he says went unaddressed. At a High Court hearing reported on 19 August 2025, Ms Justice Eileen Roberts granted only an order for short service of proceedings against both defendants, and the matter is due back before the court on Friday.
