Motorcyclist hospitalised after serious car and motorcycle collision in Virginia, Co Cavan

A man in his 50s was seriously injured when his motorcycle collided with a car on the R194 on the outskirts of Virginia, Co Cavan, at approximately 6.40pm on Sunday, 18 May 2025. The motorcyclist was airlifted to Mater Hospital in Dublin, where he remains in a serious condition, while the male driver and female passenger in the car were uninjured. Gardaí attended the scene with ambulance, fire service and air ambulance. As of 20 May 2025, Gardaí are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage to contact Bailieboro Garda Station.
