Man who unknowingly transported drugs in car given suspended sentence
On 12 November 2023 at Pinewood Park, Tallaght, Dublin, Daniel O'Neill gave his cousin Oisín O'Neill a lift to Cabra, where four suitcases were put into the boot of his car, and two of them, containing cannabis and cocaine, were then moved into a waiting car. Gardaí were watching the second car and stopped Daniel O'Neill within a hundred metres of driving off, and Oisín O'Neill and the second car's driver, James Glynn, were also arrested. Glynn received a suspended four-and-a-half-year sentence in the November before Daniel O'Neill's case, and Oisín O'Neill was previously given a three-year sentence with the final six months suspended. Daniel O'Neill pleaded guilty to possession of drugs for sale or supply and was given a three-and-a-half-year sentence, suspended in full, at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, as reported on 7 February 2025.
