Man to be sentenced over incitement to hatred livestream in Finglas
In January 2023 Graham Carey, 42, of Dunsink Drive, Finglas, Dublin, made a 30-minute livestream on Instagram saying refugees were here to rape women and children, and called on listeners to gather at Finglas Garda Station. He was arrested and charged with using threatening, abusive or insulting words intended or likely to stir up hatred and with distributing a recording likely to stir up hatred, and he pleaded not guilty to both. In April a jury at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court returned unanimous guilty verdicts on both counts, and Judge Ryan remanded him on continuing bail. At a sentence hearing on 23 July 2026 sentencing was adjourned to the next morning, so no sentence has yet been imposed.
