Case No. 5608Facilitating murder · Co. Dublin · 22 Dec 2016

Man sentenced to nine years for facilitating murder in Dublin

Christopher (aka Noel) Kirwan, a 62-year-old man, was shot six times while sitting in his car at St Ronan's Drive, Clondalkin, Dublin, on 22 December 2016 after being photographed attending the funeral of a Hutch family member, which led the Kinahan cartel to falsely believe he was linked to the Hutch gang. Declan Brady, a 56-year-old man, was charged with facilitating the murder under Section 72 of the Criminal Justice Act and pleaded guilty at the Special Criminal Court in January 2024. On 24 June 2024, Mr Justice Tony Hunt sentenced Brady to a further nine-year prison term, with the final year suspended conditional on his dissociation from the Kinahans, running concurrently with his existing sentences for firearms and money laundering offences.
