Man sentenced for public order offence in Dundalk
On 23 August 2022, Michael O'Hagan, a 55-year-old man from Dundalk, phoned the garda station to report an alleged assault at a pub in Seatown but was observed using profanities and slurring his words at St. Patrick's Terrace, Dundalk. He was arrested under the Public Order Act and charged with being intoxicated in a public place and using threatening, abusive or insulting behaviour. At Dundalk district court he represented himself and claimed the garda had flung his body weight into his ribs, but Judge Eirinn McKiernan convicted him on the garda's evidence.
