Man sent forward for trial over Dublin mosque arson
On 29 June 2026, just before 3.30pm, a fire broke out at the doorway of the Faizan E Madinah Mosque on Talbot Street in the north inner city of Dublin, and no injuries were reported. Saeid Khosroabadi, a 41-year-old Iranian national, was arrested at his flat and charged with arson and causing criminal damage at the mosque, with an additional charge of endangering life added later. Bail was denied on 1 July and he was remanded in custody, and a later hearing at Cloverhill District Court was adjourned so a book of evidence could be served. On 20 August 2026 the Director of Public Prosecutions directed trial on indictment, Judge Alan Mitchell sent him forward to the Dublin Circuit Court, and he was further remanded in custody with the case listed for mention on 8 October.
