Man jailed over Ballyfermot Road attack that blinded Alanna Quinn Idris in one eye

Four youths carried out an organised attack on Alanna Quinn Idris, then aged 17, and her friend Louis O'Sullivan on the Ballyfermot Road, Dublin, on December 30, 2021. Ms Quinn Idris was hit in the face with the saddle of an electric scooter, knocked unconscious and left with a shattered tooth, broken cheekbone and a ruptured eyeball, and she has permanently lost vision in her right eye. Co-accused Darragh Lyons was sentenced in March to four and a half years for assault causing serious harm. Josh Cummins, who was 17 at the time of the attack and is now 19, pleaded guilty to charges including assault causing serious harm and violent disorder, and was sentenced at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on December 11, 2023, though sources differ on whether he received three years or five years with the final two suspended.
