Man jailed for two years over assault causing harm in Knock, Roscrea
On July 24, 2022, at Timony, Knock, near Roscrea, Co Tipperary, Oliver Carroll, a 59-year-old man, waited around 90 minutes outside the home of Keith Noonan and Megan Monahan and then assaulted them. A dispute had begun in the Knock Inn over songs played on the pub sound system. Carroll was arrested, said in his first interview that he acted in self-defence, then refused to answer further questions, and later pleaded guilty to two counts of assault causing harm. In February 2024, Judge Catherine Staines at Nenagh Circuit Criminal Court jailed him for two years, suspending the final 18 months on a two-year bond to keep the peace.
