Case No. 10956Manslaughter · Co. Dublin · 23 Jun 2024

Man jailed for manslaughter of Canadian tourist in Dublin

On 23 June 2024, Neno Dolmajian, a 42-year-old Canadian man, was assaulted on O'Connell Street in Dublin and died nine days later at the Mater Hospital. Madalin Ghiuzan, a 24-year-old Romanian man, punched and pushed Dolmajian, causing him to fall, and Ionut Danca, a Romanian man, then delivered a full force running kick to his head. Danca pleaded guilty to the unlawful killing of Dolmajian, and Ghiuzan was sentenced for an assault on him a few minutes earlier. On 17 February 2026 Danca was jailed for five and a half years, which the case facts describe as six years with the final six months suspended, and Ghiuzan received 12 months with the balance suspended because he had already served four and a half months.
