Case No. 14366Demanding money with menace · Co. Dublin

Man jailed for demanding money with menace over son's drug debt

From April 2022, men repeatedly called to a woman's home in Dublin demanding money over her son's cocaine debt. A man told her mother that her son owed €3,000, another man at the door said €6,000 had to be paid, and Graham Potts called to the house four or five times and made threats against the woman, her cars and her house. After about two weeks of demands she contacted gardaí and handed over a photograph of Potts, and the family later sold their house and left the area. Potts pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, and the report published on 4 March 2025 said Judge Martin Nolan jailed him for four and a half years and declined to backdate the sentence to when he went into custody.
