Man charged with weapons offence and trespass at Thornton Hall, Dublin
On Tuesday 6 August 2024 at about 11:45pm, Daryl McMahon, a 49-year-old man, was alleged to have trespassed at Thornton Hall, a proposed international protection site in north Dublin, after an altercation with a security man in which he was alleged to have brandished a plank of wood. Gardaí identified him on CCTV and arrested him later, and he was charged with production of a plank of wood capable of causing serious injury and with trespass. Gardaí objected to bail at the hearing, but the judge granted bail with a €1,000 bond and conditions, including staying out of the Thornton Hall site, and he has yet to indicate a plea. He is next due before Balbriggan District Court on 3 September for directions from the DPP.
