Man charged with intimidating Michael Healy-Rae at Leinster House protest
On 20 September 2023, as the Dáil resumed, Kerry TD Michael Healy-Rae and an intern from his office were allegedly surrounded and impeded from entering the Oireachtas during a protest of about 200 people outside Leinster House on Kildare Street, Dublin 2. Gardaí identified Dean Hickson (21), of Griffith Parade, Finglas, from video footage, and he was charged with intimidating Mr Healy-Rae. In February 2024 he appeared before Dublin District Court, where Judge Paula Murphy accepted jurisdiction, the defence was granted disclosure of the prosecution evidence, and the case was adjourned. The latest development is that he is due back in court on 16 April to enter a plea, and no sentence has been reported.
