Man charged over aggravated burglary at Cork house
Three men armed with pick axe handles broke into a house in the Lagan Grove area of Mayfield, Cork City, at around 12:40am on 11 August 2025, beating a 31-year-old man in front of his partner and two young children before fleeing. A 39-year-old man was arrested at the scene by patrol Gardaí and detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984. Malcolm Kelly, 39, of Coolageala, Kanturk, Co Cork, was charged at Mallow District Court on 12 August with burglary with intent to commit criminal damage and assault, and with a count of criminal damage. He was remanded in custody to appear before Cork District Court on 29 August.
