On the evening of 7 October 2021, Gardaí from the Cork West Divisional Drugs unit executed a search warrant at a property in Macroom, Co. Cork, and seized 4.5kg of vacuum-packed cannabis herb with an estimated street value of approximately €80,000. A man in his mid 50s was arrested during the search and taken to Bandon Garda Station, where he was detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996. The man has since been charged and is due to appear before Macroom District Court on 17 November 2021.
