Case No. 8792Possession of cannabis for sale or supply · Co. Cork

Man charged over €1.6m cannabis seizure in Cork refused bail

Xiaochen Han, a 30-year-old Chinese man, has been charged with possessing cannabis and having cannabis for sale or supply over an alleged €1.6 million seizure at U Store It in Little Island, Co Cork, on 6 July 2026. Gardaí said CCTV captured the incident, and a sample of the seizure has been sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis. At his first appearance before Cork District Court by video link, with a Mandarin interpreter, gardaí objected to bail and Judge David Waters refused it, citing Han's lack of ties to the State, his apparent illegal entry and his status as a serious flight risk. Han was remanded in custody and is due back before Cork District Court on 10 August for DPP directions.
