Man arrested after €170,000 of cocaine seized in Mitchelstown, Co Cork

On Monday 2 September 2024, shortly after 9pm, gardaí stopped and searched a car on Thomas Street in Mitchelstown, Co Cork, and found almost 2.5kg of suspected cocaine estimated at €170,000. The driver, the sole occupant of the car, was arrested at the scene; he is described as 35 by one report and as in his 30s by others, and he is not named in the sources.
