Man admits being drunk and abusive to gardaí in Portlaoise park

On April 29, 2023, at about 8.20pm, gardaí found a man lying in People's Park, Timahoe Road, Portlaoise, County Laois, and deemed him to have consumed too much alcohol. When woken, the 19-year-old, Daniel Russell, of Kilmalogue, Cahir, Tipperary, became verbally abusive towards gardaí. At a court hearing reported on May 24, 2023, Russell admitted being drunk and abusive, and the matter was adjourned for a probation report.
