Luke Daly pleads guilty to Blackrock assault on teenager; sentence deferred

On 7 December 2019 a group of youths broke a teenager's three fingers by kicking him on Rock Road, Blackrock, Co Dublin. Luke Daly, a 23-year-old man, was charged with simple assault, and the gardaí said they could not show he had any role in the kicking or hitting. At a Dublin Circuit Criminal Court hearing reported on 9 October 2024, Daly pleaded guilty, was ordered to keep the peace pending sentence, and was ordered to pay the victim €3,000. The judge said the offence would warrant two months but intended to dispose of the case under Section 100 of the Criminal Justice Act, and Daly is due back before court on 10 March 2025 for mention, with final orders due on 10 April.
