Longford man given suspended sentence for assaulting Garda and resisting arrest
On April 21, 2024, at Clonbalt, Longford, Kyle Quinn, a 25-year-old man from Longford, was involved in an incident in which Garda Aidan Lenehan was assaulted. Quinn was convicted at Longford District Court of resisting arrest and of assaulting Garda Lenehan, and he pleaded guilty to the Garda assault. The judge imposed a four-month sentence for the assault and a five-month sentence for resisting arrest, both suspended for 18 months. A report published March 21, 2025 says Quinn must return to Roscommon Circuit Court over the suspended sentence imposed there, to find out whether the recent conviction triggers it; one account gives March 18, 2025 as the date and the other says later that month.
