Limerick plumber charged over home shooting, remanded on bail

A man in his 30s was shot and injured in January at a house in Limerick, and Jason Higgins (44), a plumber of Crecora Avenue, Ballinacurra Weston, is alleged to have fired four shots from his licensed shotgun from that house. His defence says he fired because he feared the house was about to be shot into. Gardaí told Limerick District Court in January that Higgins owned four licensed guns, and in April he was charged with one count of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life. On 10 April 2024 he was remanded on continuing bail to appear before Limerick District Court in June, and gardaí had not yet received directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions.
