Limerick man jailed for 14 years for sexual abuse of his two sisters
A 62-year-old man in County Limerick was convicted after a trial at the Central Criminal Court of sexually abusing his two sisters between 1977 and 1984, when he was aged between 14 and 22, mostly in the family home. Gardaí became aware of allegations raised by the first sister in 2018, and the man denied them when they were put to him in 2019. He was convicted of 19 counts of rape against the first sister and of eight counts of rape and eight of indecent assault against the second. On 25 November 2024 Mr Justice David Keane jailed him for 14 years on concurrent sentences and ordered two years post-release supervision. After sentencing he shouted that he was innocent and he continues to deny the offences.
