Letterkenny man jailed for taking car from community centre car park
Sam Orr, a 19-year-old man, was charged after a car key was taken from the changing rooms of Letterkenny Community Centre, Letterkenny, County Donegal, at around 9pm on 14 January 2025, and a silver Seat Leon was taken from the car park. The incident was captured on CCTV, and Orr cooperated after arrest and helped recover the car, which was later found abandoned with the number plates removed at Corravaddy. He was charged with burglary and unauthorised taking of the car, and at Letterkenny District Court, where he appeared from Castlerea Prison, he pleaded guilty. On 24 February 2025 he was sentenced to nine months in prison on the burglary charge, with the last three months suspended for one year, and ordered to stay out of Letterkenny Community Centre; the unauthorised taking charge was taken into consideration.
