Case No. 8158Sexual offences against a child (oral rape; inviting a child to engage in sexual touching) · Co. Kildare

Kildare man jailed for 10 years for sexually abusing six-year-old daughter

A 55-year-old Kildare man was found guilty by a Central Criminal Court jury of two counts of oral rape and one count of inviting a child to engage in sexual touching against his six-year-old daughter at his home between June 6th, 2020 and January 17th, 2021. The abuse came to light when the girl told her older half-sister and her mother that she was in a secret club with Daddy, and she was later interviewed by specialist gardaí. The jury verdicts were returned in Tullamore earlier this year, and the man denied all charges and does not accept the verdicts. In July 2023 Mr Justice David Keane jailed him for 10 years on each rape count and seven years on the sexual touching count, concurrent and backdated to March 24th, with three years of post-release supervision and registration as a sex offender.
