Italian student paralysed in 1999 Dublin bottle attack

In July 1999, Guido Nasi, a 17-year-old Italian man on an English language course, was struck on the head with a half-full bottle of beer in Fairview Park on the north side of Dublin. The attack, carried out by a man, caused a blood clot under the skull and left Nasi paralysed with a catastrophic brain injury. A man was jailed for the attack in 2001. The latest development is an August 2023 report that Nasi, who now lives in a care facility in Turin, is still unable to live independently and has a poor quality of life.
