Irish man refused bail over child abuse material and sexual exploitation of 12-year-old Polish girl
An Irish man in his 30s, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is accused of producing child abuse material and sexually exploiting a 12-year-old Polish girl online, with offences alleged to have been committed in 2022 and 2023. He was arrested in Dublin, where he had been living recently, by officers from the Garda National Protective Services Unit, after a Samsung phone seized from his bedroom was found to contain 1089 images and 292 videos of child abuse material. He appeared at Dublin District Court on a Saturday and was charged with two counts of possession of child pornography, sexual exploitation of a child, organising a child for production and distribution of child pornography, and bail was refused after Detective Sergeant Catherine Curtin objected. He has yet to enter a plea and was remanded in custody to appear again the following week to obtain directions from the DPP.
