Ghost broker Egidijus Aleliunas jailed for five years over false insurance policies
Egidijus Aleliunas (43), of The Paddocks Way, Adamstown, Lucan, operated as a so-called ghost broker from 2010 until 2017, selling false insurance policies and forged no claims bonuses for a fee advertised on Facebook. The investigation began in 2017 after Aviva noticed no claims bonuses signed by the same person, and insurers have linked 236 policies to him across seven companies. Aleliunas pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to multiple counts, including deception and possessing and transferring proceeds of criminal conduct, while Anastasija Pavola (37), Viaceslav Pavlov (68) and Natalja Pavlova (65), all originally from Lithuania, also pleaded guilty. Judge Martin Nolan jailed Aleliunas for five years and gave each of the other three a suspended two-year sentence, as reported on 20 February 2024.
