Gardaí appeal for information on red Ford Focus after fatal Tallaght hit-and-run
On Friday 8 September 2023, shortly before 11am, Kathleen Furlong, a pedestrian in her 80s, was struck by a car at the junction of Fortunestown Way and Cheeverstown Road in Tallaght, Dublin 24, and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver did not remain at the scene, and gardaí later recovered the car. On Saturday 9 September Philip Ormond, 42, was arrested at 10.15pm and charged with dangerous driving causing death; he appeared before Tallaght District Court on Monday 11 September, where no bail application was made and he was remanded in custody. The latest development is a garda appeal issued on 15 September for information on a small red Ford Focus, and Ormond is due again before Cloverhill District Court on Friday.
