Garda to face Circuit Court trial over 2021 Tallaght crash that killed three men

On July 7, 2021, a BMW carrying Dean Maguire (29), Karl Freeman (26) and Graham Taylor (31), all men, hit a truck head-on on the N7 in Co Dublin between Citywest and Baldonnel while they were driving on the wrong side of the road fleeing gardaí. The Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission investigated, and garda John Francis Ryan of Tallaght Garda station was first summonsed to Dublin District Court in June, with the matter later adjourned to October. The DPP then directed that he face a Circuit Court trial before a judge and jury, and the case was most recently adjourned to June 26 so the prosecution could serve a book of evidence.
