Garda probe after dump truck set alight at Convoy building site

In the early hours of Thursday 18 July 2024, shortly after 4.30am, a dump truck was set alight at a building site in the Milltown area of Convoy, Co Donegal, and Gardaí believe the fire was started deliberately. The Fire Services alerted Gardaí, and a criminal damage probe has been launched, with an appeal for anyone who travelled in the area that morning with a dash cam to make footage available. Rumours had circulated that the site was due to house asylum seekers, but the Department said it has received no offer of accommodation for international protection seekers for the property and is not examining it for use. As of the 23 July 2024 report, the sources name no victim or suspect and report no arrest or charge.
