Four men convicted of rape and sexual assault in Dublin

Six men, three uncles and three younger brothers of a deaf woman, were tried at the Central Criminal Court in Dublin for sexually abusing her over a 19-year period between 1995 and 2014. The 131-day trial, which began in October 2025, was the longest criminal trial in the history of the State, with 83 of the original 103 charges withdrawn by the DPP. After almost 51 hours of deliberation over 14 days, the jury convicted four of the men of rape, anal rape and sexual assault while deadlocking on two uncles. The four convicted men were remanded into custody pending a sentencing hearing the following month.
