Former Dublin bus driver jailed for abusing five girls and asking boy, 9, for nude pictures
Dermot Carr (51) of Royal Canal Park, Dublin 15, a former Dublin bus driver, sexually assaulted five girls, who were as young as 11, between January 2001 and May 2006, after meeting each of them through his niece. Between January 2013 and July 2018 he also harassed a nine-year-old boy by giving him alcohol and cannabis and asking him for sexual activity and naked pictures. Carr first pleaded guilty to harassment of a child and sending sexually explicit images to a child, and later pleaded guilty to sexual assault charges relating to the five girls. On 24 May 2023 at the Central Criminal Court, Mr Justice David Keane sentenced him, with reports saying he was jailed for eight years, while the court's terms total nine years with the final year suspended, and ordered him to pay €10,000 compensation to the first female victim.
