Five convicted of sexual abuse and assault in Munster

Five family members, including a 56-year-old father and 34-year-old mother, were found guilty of all but one of 78 counts of sexual abuse, assault and coercive control of their children in Munster following a ten-week trial in 2021. The offences are alleged to have taken place between August 2014 and April 2016, and the children were taken into care in 2016. The father was found guilty of 31 counts including rape and sexual assault, while the mother was found guilty of 25 counts including wilful neglect.
