Farmer jailed over drugs possession and delivery to pay off debt, Limerick
Charles Magill, a 61-year-old man with addresses at Knockainey and Lisnagry, Co Limerick, was arrested on 29 May 2022 during a garda operation that seized €1.4 million of drugs, with Vincent Collopy also arrested. Gardaí had observed Magill delivering a drugs package at Corbally, Co Clare, and he told them he was delivering drugs for unnamed criminals to pay off a drug debt his then partner had accrued, saying he was coerced. He pleaded guilty to 16 charges, including two counts of possessing drugs for sale or supply and having €49,000 in cash. On 11 April 2024 at Limerick Circuit Court, Judge Tom O'Donnell jailed him for six years with the final 18 months suspended.
