Edenderry man sentenced for drug possession in Offaly

Detective Garda Joseph Bradley found a lunchbox containing 49g of cocaine in a lane opposite Aaron Holt's home in Edenderry on 27 March 2025, while Holt was on High Court bail for a 2024 heroin offence. Holt's four-year-old son Tadgh Farrell and grand-aunt Mary Holt were killed in a firebombing at Castleview Park on 6 December 2025, for which Michael Dunne, 22, of Co Kildare, has been charged with murder. Holt was jailed for seven years in January 2026 for the heroin offence. He pleaded guilty at Tullamore District Court on 22 October 2026 to possessing the cocaine for sale or supply, and Judge Andrew Cody imposed an eight-month consecutive sentence, with release not due until December 2030. Holt was refused leave to attend his son's funeral.
