Dublin man pleads guilty to intimidating TD Michael Healy-Rae
On September 20, 2023, during a rally outside Leinster House as the Dáil resumed after the summer recess, Dean Hickson, a 22-year-old man from Finglas East, Dublin, allegedly threw a plastic bottle at and blocked Kerry TD Michael Healy-Rae as the TD attempted to leave the area. Gardaí identified Hickson from video footage and charged him in February, and the DPP directed summary disposal in the District Court. On 23 April 2024 at Dublin District Court, Hickson pleaded guilty through his lawyer, who said he wished to apologise to the TD, and he was remanded on continuing bail pending sentence while a victim impact statement is prepared.
